It's deeply disturbing to realize this movie is 27 years old, but even so it still manages to hold up remarkably well as a scary-but-kick-ass action-adventure flick, featuring multiple strong female characters and still-respectable FX.<\/p>\n

This was part of Father-Daughter Movie Week, and I'm pleased to be able to check the box on this one for Kay. \u00a0Now she'll understand the classic lines and imagery that this movie spawned.<\/p><\/div>\n

\n I watched this with my daughter as part of her Geek Accreditation, as one cannot be an SF nerd without being able to quote at length from this flick, most especially the classic “Game over, man! Game over!” and “Nuke ’em from orbit — it’s the only way to be sure.” It’s remarkable how well an SF action-adventure flick from ’86 still holds up.
