I think most people acknowledge that there need to be some secrets, especially regarding intelligence activities. \u00a0Revealing personnel lists, or even techniques used, can endanger \u00a0the ability of intelligence agencies to function, and that can have tragic results.<\/p>\n

But at some point it becomes more than a bit silly, not to mention scary. Such as, "No, we can't tell you what the secret court said about our secret activities being wrong because it's about secret setuff, and only the secret court can reveal it, but we don't think they should because, y'know, _secret"<\/i><\/div>\n

Government Says Secret Court Opinion on Law Underlying PRISM Program Needs to Stay Secret<\/a>
\n In a rare public filing in the secret Foreign Intelligence Surveillance Court (FISC), the Justice Department today urged continued secrecy for a 2011 FISC opinion that found the National Security Agency’s surveillance under the FISA Amendments Act to be unconstitutional.\u00a0 Significantly, the surveillance at issue was carried out under the same controversial legal authority that underlies the NSA\u2019s recently-revealed PRISM program.\n <\/p>\n
