I think "fiercer" is just what the Doctor needs.<\/p>\n

I've tried to stay just on the fringes of the analysis-fest around the selection of Peter Capaldi for the next Doctor and What It Means and all that. \u00a0Part of me just wants to enjoy him when he shows up.<\/p>\n

But going a bit away from the goofy naif \u00a0of Matt Smith's Eleventh Doctor is, I think, a promising trend. (And, yes, Eleven has been, occasionally, "fierce," but it never quite came off in the face of the way he usually<\/i> behaves.)<\/p>\n

Steven says Twelfth Doctor will be \u201ca fiercer man\u201d<\/b><\/p>\n

Steven Moffat has teased that Peter Capaldi\u2019s Doctor will be \u201ca fiercer\u201d incarnation of the Time Lord.<\/p>\n

Speaking to the new issue of Doctor Who Magazine, on sale on Thursday, the showrunner said it will be \u201crather exciting\u201d for the character\u2019s appearance to be more representative of his age. \u201cThe Doctor\u2019s always said he is thousands of years old and suddenly he is going to look closer to what we know he secretly is,\u201d Steven said. \u201cHe won\u2019t be the dashing young man he was a minute ago.\u201d<\/p>\n

Peter Capaldi was unveiled in the role earlier this month in a special live programme on BBC One. Steven added: \u201cHow has it taken us so long!? The moment you say his name, you go \u2018Of course!\u2019. He\u2019s got the hair, he\u2019s got the look. He\u2019s brilliant. Of course it\u2019s him!\u201d<\/p>\n
