It started making an annoying grating sound, and a rather disturbing electrical odor.<\/p>\n<p>Hrm.<\/p>\n<p>As far as I can tell, this (now broken) Sharp microwave lasted us a bit over a year.  We bought it back in October &#8217;01, so any warranty it might have had is long since &#8230; cooked.<\/p>\n<p>One advantage of having a &#8220;merged&#8221; household is that we tend to still have duplicates of a lot of things.  So we still have a small microwave oven down in the basement, which we&#8217;ve brought upstairs.  It&#8217;s small, it doesn&#8217;t have a rotating tray, and the controls are rather cryptic, but it heats up things just fine.<\/p>\n<p>Life without a microwave oven is remarkly irksome.<\/p>\n<p>So, once we can get out of the house, a new microwave oven is on the list.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>So in the middle of our snow crisis, our microwave upped and crapped out.
