At a time when the US is deciding whether to punish Syria for use of chemical weapons, and has previously condemned Syrian use of cluster bombs, the State Dept announcing a cluster bomb sale to Saudi Arabia is … poorly timed.<\/p>\n

And, yes, I understand the difference between chemical weapons vs "conventional" munitions, and the difference between cluster bombs used on civilian targets vs in a military conflict. \u00a0I also understand that Saudi Arabia doesn't really seem to have much need for cluster bombs right now, that the US stand on cluster munitions is in a minority in the world, and this is really just incredibly tone-deaf.<\/p><\/div>\n
