Rep.\u00a0Marlin Stutzman (R-IN) commented yesterday, regarding the government shutdown, "We\u2019re not going to be disrespected. We have to get something out of this. And I don\u2019t know what that even is."<\/i><\/p>\n

Rightfully criticized (including by the president) for turning this into some sort of honor game (as well as making it out as a strategy for leverage on the imminent debt limit crisis), and probably raked over the coals by his own side for straying off-message, Stutzman today<\/i> issued the following statement, toeing the party line: \u201cYesterday, I carelessly misrepresented the ongoing budget debate and Speaker Boehner\u2019s work on behalf of the American people. Despite my remarks it\u2019s clear that the American people want both parties to come to the table to reopen the government, tackle this nation\u2019s debt crisis, and stop ObamaCare\u2019s pain.\u201d<\/i><\/p>\n
