{"id":3901,"date":"2003-03-17T08:17:21","date_gmt":"2003-03-17T13:17:21","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/hill-kleerup.org\/blog\/wp\/?p=3901"},"modified":"2003-03-17T08:17:21","modified_gmt":"2003-03-17T13:17:21","slug":"puh_lease","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/hill-kleerup.org\/blog\/2003\/03\/17\/puh_lease.html","title":{"rendered":"Puh-lease"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>When a gent opened his suitcase from a trip to Seattle, he found the anti-war placards he&#8217;d packed &#8212; and he found another little surprise.<\/p>\n<p>Inside, handwritten on a TSA &#8220;Notification of Baggage Inspection&#8221; slip (indicating his bag had been opened for security screening), was a message, &#8220;<a title=\"The Seattle Times: Local News: Suitcase surprise: Rebuke written on inspection notice\" href=\"http:\/\/seattletimes.nwsource.com\/html\/localnews\/134653764_tsasign15m.html\">DON&#8217;T APPRECIATE YOUR ANTI AMERICAN ATTITUDE!<\/a>&#8220;<\/p>\n<p>Yeah, because that&#8217;s why we spent all that money federalizing airport security.<\/p>\n<p>The TSA admits that &#8220;We do not condone our employees making any kind of political comments or personal comments to any travelers.  That is not acceptable.&#8221;  But they also deny that it&#8217;s necessarily a TSA person who did it.  &#8220;It&#8217;s a leap to say it was a TSA screener.&#8221; <\/p>\n<p>Yeah.  Because doubtless someone else certailny could have broken the TSA seals on the bag, written the note on a TSA slip, put it into the suitcase, and then resealed the bag.  <\/p>\n<p>While the rhetoric from the gent whose bag this was done to gets a little bit extreme (I&#8217;m not sure youl could seriously argue that this represents &#8220;trampling people&#8217;s civil rights&#8221;), his outrage is understandable.  Crap like this is just the sort of thing that <i>undermines <\/i>both the TSA and &#8220;homeland security.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>(Of course, if I were paranoid, I might suggest that maybe it was done by anti-war types, to discredit the TSA.
