Pretty much.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Reshared post from +<a href='https:\/\/plus.google.com\/101040998703128232705'>Jeremy Nixon<\/a><\/strong><\/p>\n<blockquote><p>We keep hearing the same talking point from the Republicans responsible for the government shutdown: <b>President Obama won\u2019t compromise.<\/b><\/p>\n<p>Liberals wanted single-payer Medicare-for-all, but the president <b>settled on a Republican plan instead,<\/b> a plan Republicans supported until Obama got on board with it. Republicans didn\u2019t like the public option, so he compromised by removing it. He compromised on abortion coverage. He compromised with the \u201cCornhusker Kickback\u201d (which was later removed by the Senate). He compromised on Medicare drug price negotiation, and drug reimportation.<\/p>\n<p>He compromised by delaying the employer mandate. He compromised on the CLASS Act, and the 1099 requirements.<\/p>\n<p>Democrats asked Republicans 19 times, starting in April, for a conference to negotiate on the budget, and were told \u2018no\u2019 19 times.<\/p>\n<p>For the budget, President Obama wanted one funding level, and the Republicans wanted a much lower level, so the president <b>agreed to the Republican level.<\/b> Not some middle-ground between the two proposals \u2013 he accepted their number. After getting <i>literally everything they wanted,<\/i> Republicans said \u2018no\u2019 to the deal anyway, deciding they wanted more.<\/p>\n<p>They demanded defunding of Obamacare, or they\u2019ll blow up the country. Then they said, okay, instead of defunding it completely, just gut part of it \u2013 they call that a \u2018compromise\u001d\u2019 because they would only get some, not all, of what they want in exchange for not destroying the country.<\/p>\n<p>Obama says no, you don\u2019t get to demand something in return for not destroying the country. \u201cNot destroying the country\u201d should be sort of a baseline expectation, when you\u2019re in Congress.<\/p>\n<p>And that, folks, is what Republicans call \u2018refusing to compromise\u2019.<\/p><\/blockquote>\n<\/div>\n<div class='gpb-photo-primary'><img src='https:\/\/lh5.googleusercontent.com\/-g_nfk7i-sDU\/UlSOBA0IaDI\/AAAAAAAAQLU\/j7IOZ1VPlos\/compromise.jpg?imgmax=1600' border='0' style='max-width:100%;' \/><\/div>\n<p><\/p>\n<p class='gpb-links' style='clear:both;'> <a class='gpb-linkback' href='https:\/\/plus.google.com\/101083456815352083930\/posts\/ST6Rq4FyQ5A' target='_new'>View this post on Google+<\/a><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Yeah.
