Fox News and the Wall Street Journal<\/i> are shocked, shocked,<\/i> to learn that JPMorgan will have actually have to to pay money<\/i> for the shenanigans they — and the institutions they bought — engaged in.<\/p>\n

Dear WSJ — it's not "confiscation" when they defrauded<\/i> institutional investors, causing massive losses (and, in some cases, the need for federal bailouts that cost far more than the fines involved here). \u00a0That includes when it was done in part by businesses that JPM acquired (Bear Sterns and WaMu). \u00a0When you acquire a company's assets, you acquire its liabilities, too. \u00a0That's actually Business 101 stuff, right there.<\/p>\n
