{"id":3957,"date":"2003-03-06T09:45:23","date_gmt":"2003-03-06T14:45:23","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/hill-kleerup.org\/blog\/wp\/?p=3957"},"modified":"2003-03-06T09:45:23","modified_gmt":"2003-03-06T14:45:23","slug":"protest","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/hill-kleerup.org\/blog\/2003\/03\/06\/protest.html","title":{"rendered":"Protest"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Well, thank heavens the FBI isn&#8217;t just spending time <a href=\"https:\/\/www.hill-kleerup.org\/blog\/2003\/03\/05\/security_going.html\">busting bong salesman<\/a>, but instead is focusing in on a <i>true <\/i>homeland security menace &#8230; <a title=\"Toby's Political Diary - 'Let it Begin Here'\" href=\"http:\/\/blogs.salon.com\/0001282\/2003\/03\/05.html#a140\">high school protesters<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>Huh?<\/p>\n<p>It seems (and I can&#8217;t find anything else yet on this save the Salon entry) that plans for a peaceful protest at a Massachusetts high school were mentioned on-line by a student.  The FBI spotted it, and alerted local police to investigate.<\/p>\n<p>First off, if there was going to be a protest march, the police might be interested &#8212; but that&#8217;s their call to investigate (and a wise tactic of the student organizers to let them know beforehand).  Why is the <i>FBI <\/i>getting involved in a <i>local<\/i>, non-criminal occurance like this?<\/p>\n<p>Don&#8217;t they have, I don&#8217;t know, some <i>terrorists <\/i>to hunt down?
