I find this a fascinating article for a variety of reasons:<\/p>\n

1. That some Muslim scholars would condemn adherents of Islam in American from celebrating Thanksgiving as a putatively Christian holiday.
2. A take-down, from a very Islamic perspective, of that condemnation.
3. A description of Thanksgiving in America for a world audience.<\/p>\n

I know for my own family that we welcome all of our friends and family to our Thanksgiving table, out of a sense of fellowship that I have to believe is universal across faiths (and non-faiths). \u00a0And while intoxicants are actually served at such tables, if someone wanted to raise a fuss about that …well, I'd see what we could politely do.<\/p>\n

Thanksgiving, to me, is as much giving thanks to those people around me (by breaking bread, and turkey, with them) as to the Almighty.I'd like to think (and this article seems to agree) that would be something that Muslims would support as well as people of any other metaphysical\u00a0inclination.\ufeff<\/p><\/div>\n
