Well <\/a>…<\/p>\n

… it was snowing down in Colorado Springs as we headed up through town toward the road to Bear Trap Ranch. Indeed, the street leading to the Broadmoor was pretty darned snowy, and the street going around the Broadmoor was even snowier, and on the steep residential street we had to go up it was snowy and slippery and I was feeling kind of glad that I wasn’t trying to drive it myself (especially in the Saturn) …<\/p>\n

… and when we got to where the pavement ends, and the dirt\/gravel road begins, there was someone from Bear Trap there, turning everyone back, because it had been snowing all afternoon higher up, and big 4WD vehicles with chains had been having serious problems on the road.<\/p>\n

So, we turned around and slowly crept down the hill, and slowly drove back up to the metro area — with road conditions pretty darned awful all the way up to just below Castle Rock (to the point where I was seriously wondering if we’d have to find a motel somewhere), and with the driver of the car insisting on changing lanes whenever someone in front was going too slow, but not changing back when traffic backed up behind us.<\/p>\n

My dislike of being driven by others was not eased by the experience. On the other hand, if it had been me driving, I’d still be on the road.<\/p>\n

But we made it, and we had a Disney CD to sing along to, and all turned out well.<\/p>\n

The retreat is going to be done as an all-day (and into the evening) event down at the church instead, tomorrow. Which is a shame, because part of the retreat weekend is the “retreat” part of it, being away from family and home and spending time and meals together and all.<\/p>\n

On the other hand, it means I can sleep in my own bed, shower in my own shower, and kiss my wife, frequently. So it’s all good.<\/p>\n
