Last surviving member of Trapp Family Singers dies at 99<\/b><\/p>\n

+<\/span>The Associated Press<\/a><\/span>: Maria Franziska von Trapp, the last surviving member of the original Trapp Family Singers that inspired \u201cThe Sound of Music,\u201d died this week at 99, her family confirmed.\u00a0<\/p>\n

The von Trapp family was made famous for their singing after escaping Nazi-occupied Austria in 1938. Maria von Trapp was the second-oldest daughter of Georg von Trapp and his first wife. In the musical and film \u201cThe Sound of Music,\u201d Maria was portrayed as Louisa.\u00a0<\/p>\n

The singer died in her home in Vermont.<\/p>\n
