Combine warring service branches, poor project management, a deadly design combination of compromise and complexity, institutional and legislative commitment to bad decisions, an increasing monopoly on defense aircraft manufacture, a seemingly bottomless Pentagon budget, and the steadily rising terror of admitting the whole idea was a mistake — and you have the F-35.<\/p>\n
