Or, at least, a school district in San Antonio, Texas, where kids aren't allowed to bring sunscreen to school for a field trip (or on field day) because it's "toxic" and "they could ingest it." \u00a0If that weren't enough, they also consider it a "medication," thus requiring a doctor's note.<\/p>\n

Quoth a district spokescritter: "It\u2019s really a dangerous situation."<\/i><\/p>\n

Unlike, say … sunburn<\/i> and long-term increase of risk for melanoma?<\/i><\/p>\n

Maybe it's because here in Colorado we're at high altitude, but all the schools my daughter has done to provide<\/i> sun screen, and make sure the kids slather it on before going out on a field trip. You sign a form to allow it at the beginning of the school year.<\/p>\n

Apparently San Antonio, Texas, isn't quite up to that level of thinking ahead.\ufeff<\/p><\/div>\n
