You know the ones &#8212; an eagle soars over a forest, a crystal blue lake below it, while in the border below the picture, there&#8217;s a big &#8220;PERFORMANCE&#8221; and below it in smaller type, &#8220;Eagles soar because they&#8217;re looking for good job reviews.&#8221;  Or something of that sort.<\/p>\n<p>So in this month&#8217;s Diamond Comics, there are offers for various motivational posters &#8230; starring Marvel Comics characters.<\/p>\n<p>Okay, Captain America and PATRIOTISM is a natural match.  Spider-Man and CHARACTER work, and he works even better with (natch) RESPONSIBILITY.<\/p>\n<p>And you could argue that Wolverine, as a mutant, goes well with POSSIBILITIES.<\/p>\n<p>But the Hulk and GOALS?  This for the Jade Giant who wandered aimlessly across the Marvel Universe for decades?  <\/p>\n<p>The one that takes the cake, though, is the Punisher and COMMITMENT.<\/p>\n<p>Okay, COMMITMENT as in being committed to an asylum?  Or COMMITMENT as a euphamism for OBSESSION?  In either case, is there a reason we&#8217;d want to see a psychopathic vigilante who runs around gunning down criminals without mercy as, well, a model for inspiration?<\/p>\n<p>Hell, is that what we managers want to encourage our employees to be like?<\/p>\n<p>Yeesh.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>One of the more disturbing things to come out of the 70s &#8212; and surviving to this day &#8212; are Motivational Posters.
