Holy War! Prophecy! Post-Apocalyptic Las Vegas! More Angels! \u00a0What&#39;s not to love?<\/p>\n<p>I had a spare 90 minutes this afternoon, so I gave it a quick DVR watch-through, to see if it&#39;s something I wanted to get the family involved in. \u00a0And &#8230;\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>Hurm.<\/p>\n<p>There&#39;s some good story potential here &#8212; the crippled and enclaved remains of humanity living in modern, culture-twisted fortress cities after the Archangel Gabriel and many of the low-powered Angels of Heaven declared war on them 25 years ago, when God disappeared. \u00a0Their only defender, and ultimately savior, the Archangel Michael. \u00a0<\/p>\n<p>Now war is coming back, the hopes of the past decades are beginning to fade, throw in a little dab or twelve of <i>The Hunger Games<\/i> and prophecy and a modicum of relatively inexpensive special effects &#8230;<\/p>\n<p>&#8230; and you get a show that&#39;s not nearly as interesting as I&#39;d like, even verging on dull, though not nearly as offputting as the frequent Violence! Nudity! Mature Themes! warnings would imply.<\/p>\n<p>Plus the acting&#39;s pretty mediocre, even Anthony Head&#39;s.<\/p>\n<p>So &#8230; undecided. \u00a0It could get a lot better.
