I grew up in a (amateur) golfing family, and I still try to get out to play a couple of times a year — usually at a work- or parish-related get-together. \u00a0My friends who play — simply don't much, if at all, any more. \u00a0It's just damned difficult to devote an entire day to the exercise, and darned expensive for an 18 hole round.<\/p>\n

I don't know the answer for any of that (though I suspect dumbing down the game is not going to be it). It may simply be that golf, as a widely available and broadly paid sport, will simply fade out in the next three or four decades.\ufeff<\/p><\/div>\n
