Amazon does a great job of noting, when you go to an item on its pages, "Hey, you ordered a copy of that movie way back in August 2011." That's keen.<\/p>\n

But when it comes to pre-orders,<\/i> it doesn't<\/i> tell you if you've already bought something in the months that take place between "Movie\/book\/collection XYZ is coming out!" gets announced and when it actually gets released. Which has all too often meant that I ended up with two (or (cough) more) copies of something. And, yeah, Amazon makes it as easy as humanly possible to return stuff, but it's still a PitA.<\/p>\n

Amazon doesn't make it easy to provide suggestions (go to "Help" > "Self-Service" > "Contact Us" and then drill hrough some other subcategories), but I've submitted this one.<\/p>\n
