I think the remarkable thing about pets is how much we make them part of us, part of our families, part of our loved ones. \u00a0Yeah, there's some projection there, but the fact is, there's more going on in those heads, and in their needs and wants and loves, than we sometimes appreciate, even the most anthropomorphizing of us. \u00a0Pets — dogs and cats, in at least my experience — become part of our households, part of the emotional bonds that make us human. \u00a0We give to them, and they give back to us. \u00a0Pack or pride or family, it's all good, and, eventually, it all hurts, and that's all part of the same thing.<\/p>\n
