Leaving aside the question of whether Herodotus was ever perfectly accurate (short answer: no), there is some interesting archaeological evidence to suggest that "warrior woman" cultures were a real thing, and that Amazon legends either sprang from, or were backfitted to, their existence.\ufeff<\/div>\n
