Good Morning Google+ \u00a0your daily story about art:<\/b> 07.24
So much landscape, and with grizzly stories at that, cries out for something completely different. By a wonderful coincidence, today is the birthday of the Czech artist Alphonse Mucha,<\/b> who was born on July 24th in 1860.<\/p>\n

Mucha worked in Vienna, Paris and many of the Slavic countries, and was a major factor in the development of Art Nouveau.<\/i> He worked both as a painter and in all kinds of decorative arts, creating a poster for one of Sarah Bernhard's plays that she liked so much she gave Mucha a six year contract for more.<\/p>\n

This is his The Seasons<\/i> from 1897. Like most of his works, we see lovely young women, in somewhat neo-classical robes, surrounded by flowers and plants of the seasons. They look like they would be fun to know, even Winter to have a certain sense of humor and happiness.<\/p>\n

Hope you too find happiness and humor today, and tread lightly<\/i><\/p>\n
