The idea of a corporate songbook seems silly today (when, if such a thing existed, it would be for purposes of satire), but this was an era of sing-alongs, top-down management, and mutual company\/employee loyalty. I don't know that it was necessarily a less cynical time, but the cynicism was likely pointed in other directions.<\/p>\n
