Kitten has been going to preschool over at the South Suburban Rec Center, on University. It’s about a 10-plus minute drive. Put that way, it sounds trivial, but it’s sort of annoying, especially since it’s in a direction we don’t really go on except to do that.<\/p>\n

We’ve been wait-listed for preschool at Dry Creek Elementary for a while. It has a good rep, and it’s a lot more convenient.<\/p>\n

(Yes, I know Pa Ingalls use to take all day to drive the wagon to town. Shut up.)<\/p>\n

She ended up not being in preschool over the summer because the summer session is enrolled for differently than the normal school year session, and nobody told us until it was too late. The timing was okay, as things went, because she was at that “she must be potty trained, or else the parent has to hang out here” requirement threshold. She is, now, more or less, so that’s taken care of.<\/p>\n

So this month we have her in three art classes — 90 minutes, on different days of the week.<\/p>\n

It turns out that the South Suburban preschool for the fall starts this month (!). But Dry Creek starts next month. But they overlap. So depending on when we heard back from them as to Kitten’s status, they could be bumping heads, not to mention the added costs. <\/p>\n

And then yesterday I got confirmation of the times for the South Suburban preschool that starts this month, and they overlap two of the art classes she’s already in (and paid for).<\/p>\n

Well, huzzah, Margie got confirmation today that Kitten’s got a space at Dry Creek. Which is much more convenient, as I mentioned, and has a good program, and which doesn’t overlap the art classes she’s currently taking and enjoying.<\/p>\n

Major props to Margie, for doing all the leg work on this.<\/p>\n

It will be a little bit of a transition for Kitten, since she’s used to the South Suburban facility. But we drive by Dry Creek all the time, so I don’t think it will be too scary. As long as she doesn’t run around playing army and aliens<\/a>, she should be fine. <\/p>\n

(And, of course, she’s on the road to Pomona College<\/a>, not Harvard — but nobody would have understood the headline if I’d used that.)<\/small><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
