At some point this week I read a Christian pastor defending the rejection of a mosque by a town council because, well, Muslims kill people. <\/p>\n

I guess this particular video indicates that maybe we should start rejecting applications for new Christian churches, too.<\/p>\n

And I read about another Christian pastor, an African-American, denouncing gay rights legislation because gays hadn't been discriminated against nearly as badly as blacks in the course of American history.<\/p>\n

I don't know that I've heard of any serious calls from the pulpit, even at the Antebellum depths of the South, for the execution of all blacks.<\/p>\n

Pastor Steven Anderson here is, of course, on the fringe of Christianity (at least in this country — there are parts of the world where that sort of rhetoric would be perfectly acceptable). But he (and the other Christian leaders above) are huge part of why Christianity is in trouble in this country, especially among younger generations: they present Christianity as a religion of hate<\/i> (or, at the very least, tolerant<\/i> of hate) against those they consider immoral or outsiders. Which I find profoundly antithetical to Christ's message as I<\/i> (and a lot of Christians I know) understand it.<\/p><\/blockquote>\n
