Aaaand …<\/p>\n

… now I'm ready for the "Agent Carter" mid-season mini-series. <\/p>\n

I've been enjoying "Agents of SHIELD" this year a lot more than the first 2\/3 or 3\/4 of the first season. Much less done-in-one, more interesting plotting, more things blowing up, more crazy drama.<\/p>\n

On the other hand, as they've expanded beyond the original core team, they've both ended up with some interesting new characters and reducing the air time (and diluting the effect) of the characters they have. <\/p>\n

The mid-season finale had some great moments, which I'll have to describe obliquely: Skye having some creepy moments with someone, Skye taking the shot, a couple of major men going mano-a-mano, Raina being as spooky-silly-creepy as ever, Agent 33, Fitzsimmons having some words.<\/p>\n

But there were some not-so-great moments, including the rather abrupt departure of a major antagonist, and a climax \/ ending that was so shadowed and intercut that it was difficult to quite tell what the heck went on at times (and this as a comics geek, not as an average viewer). Indeed, that latter was probably one of the most crippling flaws in this episode, which did indeed ratchet up the stakes, action, and story, but probably left a lot of folk confused. And it's why I'd have to give this a B+ at best.<\/p>\n

That said, I am looking forward to the series resuming in the Spring, but I'm also very much looking forward to some "Agent Carter" goodness kicking off in early January. Until then I will also enjoy one less new show overflowing my DVR … <\/p>\n
