{"id":49587,"date":"2015-02-15T15:53:19","date_gmt":"2015-02-15T22:53:19","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/hill-kleerup.org\/blog\/2015\/02\/15\/baccano.html"},"modified":"2015-02-15T15:53:19","modified_gmt":"2015-02-15T22:53:19","slug":"baccano","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/hill-kleerup.org\/blog\/2015\/02\/15\/baccano.html","title":{"rendered":"Baccano!"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>The word means &quot;ruckus&quot; in Italian, which is appropriate for an anime (based on a manga and ongoing &quot;light novel&quot; series) that is set in 1930s Prohibition America, bounces back and forth in time and what&#39;s going on with the characters, and has a huge cast of Mafia and Camora families, as well as petty thieves, killers, and a stray alchemist or two.<\/p>\n<p>The plot&#39;s hard to follow (at least for me), between the size of the cast and the non-linear storytelling, but it&#39;s generally good fun, occasional brutal violence, and, all-around stylish animation. The anime is only 16 episodes, and <span class=\"proflinkWrapper\"><span class=\"proflinkPrefix\">+<\/span><a class=\"proflink\" href=\"https:\/\/plus.google.com\/103453067516847485667\" oid=\"103453067516847485667\">Kay Hill<\/a><\/span> has dragged me through probably two-thirds of it.
