{"id":4975,"date":"2003-11-24T06:53:50","date_gmt":"2003-11-24T13:53:50","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/hill-kleerup.org\/blog\/wp\/?p=4975"},"modified":"2014-12-04T17:06:04","modified_gmt":"2014-12-05T00:06:04","slug":"weekend_recap","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/hill-kleerup.org\/blog\/2003\/11\/24\/weekend_recap.html","title":{"rendered":"Weekend recap"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>It was a busy, busy, busy weekend, in many ways just what the doctor ordered &#8230;<\/p>\n<p><u>Friday<\/u><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Raked leaves into flower beds.  Put 45 cubic feet of red cedar mulch (15 bags) onto the front flower beds.  Put Gator Bags on the two maple trees in the front yard.  Filled Gator Bags, wet down mulch.  Good night, front yard!\n<li>Off to the church dinner\/dance at Lone Tree Country Club.  This particular soiree has been repurposed so many times, it&#8217;s hard to keep track.  Originally we were going to have a dinner thang for new folks to the church both to welcome them and to tell them about the capital campaign for the building.  We got zilchy responses, but were already committed to a certain number of dinners.  So we pushed it back to November from the Spring, and touted it as a Harvest Dinner\/Dance, to simply have a nice fellowship evening of it.  Then, when Fr. John tendered his resignation, it evolved into Tribute Dinner.  Whatever.  It was great fun, we had enough attendees to break even, and it was (again) great fun.  The band was a local one, <a href=\"http:\/\/www.exit232.com\">Exit 232<\/a>, and they did a bang-up job with their own material, current hits, and some older stuff for the fogies (ahem).  We sang a re-lyricked version of &#8220;Johnny B. Goode&#8221; which I did most of the words for, and a good time was had by all.<\/ul>\n<p><u>Saturday<\/u><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Ran out and did errands before the predicted snow hit.  CostCo was jammed.  Bailed on Home Depot, and stocked up on foodstuffs at Safeway before heading out into the oh-my-god-look-at-the-roads streets, which were chock-a-block with cars.  Not a pleasant, but at least a short, drive home.\n<li>Saturday 2ish we were supposed to have the next Nobilis game at our house.  Heh.  The snow wasn&#8217;t thick, but there was a lot of wind, and chill, and there was plenty of ice under the snow.  Folks who were coming didn&#8217;t make it until 4 or 5.  Stan, from Boulder-ways, was immediately invited to stay over.  John, who went sliding through an intersection under his own inertia, not his own power, turned around and went back home.  The decision was made that Doyce should go back and get the rest of the Testerfolk (much to Kitten&#8217;s delight) so that we could just play games.  Games were played, including a freebie &#8220;Dork Frag&#8221; (a Dork Towers version of &#8220;Frag&#8221; included in the former&#8217;s Issue 25).<\/p>\n<li>Esconsed Stan in the guest room, found him a toothbrush, and were glad that he didn&#8217;t have to drive back up to Boulder.<\/ul>\n<p><u>Sunday<\/u><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Off to church, and the first outing in the snow for the Subaru.  Woo-hah!  Drives like a charm on the snow.  Most excellent.\n<li>Margie made German Pancakes (or were they Swedish &#8212; I get the two mixed up) for breakfast, while I rushed to do all the last-sec stuff on my Spycraft game, as usual.<\/p>\n<li>Said game went pretty well.  Dylan still has not had a chance to <a href=\"https:\/\/www.hill-kleerup.org\/blog\/idc\/005537.html\">apologize to his wife <\/a>for not calling before he left <i>five days ago<\/i>.  The gearing-up phase was, as usual, excruciatingly slow, but it seems to be smoothing out some.  The serial itself was slowish, too, to start off with, since the team basically gdts dumped in Detroit with only some leads to follow.  But ultimately it heated up. They&#8217;ve gone through about half of their allotted mission time.  I suspect, though, given that they&#8217;re still in Scene 1, we have another two meets from this serial before it&#8217;s all over.  By and large, though, they&#8217;re <a href=\"https:\/\/www.hill-kleerup.org\/blog\/idc\/005538.html\">not doing badly<\/a>.<\/ul>\n<p>This morning&#8217;s commute wasn&#8217;t bad.  Cold, and a few slippery spots, but the Subaru continues to earn its pay.
