It&#39;s removed from the past TV series in much the way that TNG was from TOS, but it also resonates well with the current <i>zeitgeist:<\/i>  the idea that the glory days might be behind us and we&#39;ve gotten a bit too fat and happy &#8230; and that a threat has to force us to live up to our past heroes (and avoid looking to hard into the abyss ourselves) &#8212; yeah, that could resonate with at least some of us here in the US, at least.<\/p>\n<p>(h\/t <span class=\"proflinkWrapper\"><span class=\"proflinkPrefix\">+<\/span><a class=\"proflink\" href=\"https:\/\/plus.google.com\/100508289036361103868\" oid=\"100508289036361103868\">J.
