{"id":5000,"date":"2003-11-17T22:24:38","date_gmt":"2003-11-18T05:24:38","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/hill-kleerup.org\/blog\/wp\/?p=5000"},"modified":"2003-11-17T22:24:38","modified_gmt":"2003-11-18T05:24:38","slug":"syncing_feeling","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/hill-kleerup.org\/blog\/2003\/11\/17\/syncing_feeling.html","title":{"rendered":"Syncing feeling"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Back in September, the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.hill-kleerup.org\/blog\/2003\/09\/19\/sync_sank_sunk.html\">BookMarkSync (SyncIT) site went belly-up <\/a>&#8212; major hardware melt-down (with brand-new Dell servers, no less) and no way to afford getting back on their feet.<\/p>\n<p>So what did those fine people do?  They took their labor of love and <a href=\"http:\/\/sourceforge.net\/projects\/bookmarksync\">turned it over to some open source developers on SourceForge<\/a>.  And now you can download a copy for yourself and run it on your own server (or hosted server services) for free.<\/p>\n<p>The installation process is not exactly the best-documented in the world, but I seem to have gotten my machine&#8217;s bookmarks synced up with my hill-kleerup.org server &#8212; which means that, once again, my bookmarks are being backed up, <i>and <\/i>I can access them from any Net-connected computer in the world.
