Mens Journal <\/i>releases their list of Fifty Best Guy Movies Of All Time<\/a>. The Top Ten:<\/p>\n

1. Dirty Harry<\/i><\/b> – Never seen it, oddly enough. I’ve long thought I should, though.<\/p>\n

2. The Godfather<\/i><\/b> – Ditto, ditto.<\/p>\n

3. Scarface<\/i><\/b> – Um … ditto, maybe ditto.<\/p>\n

4. Die Hard<\/i><\/b> Yippee-ki-yay! The sequels trended pretty much downwards, but the original flick has everything except killer robots.<\/p>\n

5. The Terminator<\/i><\/b> Hey, look! Killer robots! It’s Frankenstein <\/i>for the modern era — hey, wasn’t that written by a chick?<\/p>\n

6. The Road Warrior<\/i><\/b> Wow. Years since I saw this one, but it’s a pretty cool one.<\/p>\n

7. The Dirty Dozen<\/i><\/b> Never actually seen the whole thing, but it inspired a genre.<\/p>\n

8. The Matrix<\/i><\/b> – Lots of guns, lots of cool fx. Not quite sure I’d call it a guy <\/i>movie, though.<\/p>\n

9. Caddyshack<\/i><\/b> Have watched only parts. Not impressed. I find Rodney Dangerfield to be a terrible disadvantage to any movie, Bill Murray notwithstanding.<\/p>\n

10. Rocky<\/i><\/b> Eh. Not a boxing guy, so not into boxing movies.<\/p>\n

Part of my problem with the list is that I rarely watch movies without Margie. It’s just not as fun. So my movie-watching tends to trend away from Guy Movies per se<\/i>. Margie, of course, labors under the same disadvantage.<\/p>\n

Movies I’d put on the list (and they may be elsewhere in the Top Fifty, but the online article only gives the Top Ten): The Magnificent Seven<\/i>*; The Great Escape<\/i>; For a Fist Full of Dollars<\/i>** (or Last Man Standing<\/i>*); The Sting<\/i>; The Fighting Seabees<\/i>**; Stalag 17<\/i>; Pulp Fiction<\/i>; pretty much anything from the James Bond <\/i>series.<\/p>\n

* Most flicks taken from Kurasawa samurai films, if not the samurai films themselves.<\/p>\n

** Most Clint Eastwood flicks. Or John Wayne flicks. Or Bruce Willis flicks.<\/p>\n

YMMV, of course.<\/p>\n
