The most recent brouhaha about scientific honesty in climate change calculations is whether scientists are being too willing to factor in overly-optimistic scenarios for mitigating climate change.<\/p>\n

'So people want to hear that there's hope of 2°C. Politicians want to say that there's hope of 2°C. When asked, modelers are still able to produce scenarios that show 2°C. And nobody wants to be the one to pee in the punch bowl.'<\/i><\/p>\n

Of course, the scientists and politicians of today (and me, too) won't get the worst of it. Our kids will have it worse, and our grandchildren more than them. So that whole, "Think of the children" thing — that should be seriously in play.<\/p>\n

Because while it may be too late at this point to avoid a harsh outcome, things will be far worse than that if we don't do anything.<\/p><\/blockquote>\n
