I was wondering about this for months, before I finally <a title=\"330216 - Status Bar Is Not Displayed When You Open a New Browser Window\" href=\"http:\/\/support.microsoft.com\/default.aspx?scid=kb;en-us;330216&#038;Product=ie600\">looked the problem up<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p class=\"block\"><b>SYMPTOMS<\/b><br \/>\nWhen you open a new instance of Internet Explorer 6 or Internet Explorer 6 Service Pack 1 (SP1) by using the keyboard shortcut (CTRL+N) or the <b>New Window <\/b>command on the <b>File <\/b>menu, the Status Bar is not displayed in the new browser window.<\/p>\n<p>Yup.  And it&#8217;s been driving me crazy.  Especially since any windows spawned off of that one, by any means, also lack it.  And if that&#8217;s the last window you close, then when you next start IE, the windows still don&#8217;t have it.<\/p>\n<p class=\"block\"><b>WORKAROUND<\/b><br \/>\nTo work around this issue, click <b>Status Bar <\/b>on the <b>View <\/b>menu.<\/p>\n<p>Well, duh.  But how does it happen?  How do I stop it?  What&#8217;s the fix, the patch, the solution><\/p>\n<p class=\"block\"><b>STATUS<\/b><br \/>\nMicrosoft has confirmed that this is a problem in the Microsoft products that are listed at the beginning of this article.<\/p>\n<p>Which is basically the entire IE6 product line.<\/p>\n<p>Thanks much for that helpful advice.
