Whenever the discussion of Planned Parenthood comes up, inevitably someone trots out the canard that Margaret Sanger, Planned Parenthood's founder, was a eugenicist who set up the whole shebang out race hatred for African-Americans.<\/p>\n

Whereas, in fact:<\/p>\n

a. Sanger was, indeed, a eugenicist (as were any number of prominent and misguided individuals and scientists in the early 20th Century), but explicitly rejected racial<\/i> eugenics.<\/p>\n

b. Sanger was actually a lot more interested in birth control<\/i> than abortion (indeed, she saw birth control as, correctly, a way to decrease<\/i> abortion and infanticide). <\/p>\n

And, of course, Sanger died almost half a century ago, so it's not like she's secretly behind the scenes cackling maniacally over her mythical racial superiority master race plan.<\/p>\n

Not that I expect repeating all of that will do any good for the True Believers, but at least it will give me something I can refer to by URL next time it comes up.<\/p>\n
