What's hysterical about this is that the Muslim injunction against charging interest was part of Christian<\/i> Europe's laws for many centuries. Indeed, one reason why the Jews got a reputation as rapacious bankers is because they were the only ones "allowed" to charge interest on loans.<\/p>\n

The Biblical injunctions against charging interest can be found in, among other places, Leviticus 25:35-37, Deuteronomy 15:1-11, Deuteronomy 23:19-20, Exodus 22:25, Luke 6:35. The Church condemned Christians being involved in "usury"; it was specifically noted as sinful in the Fourth Lateran Council in 1215. Eventually, apparently, Christians found the money involved too tempting to leave to the Jews alone.<\/p>\n

To single out accommodation for Muslims who want to afford housing without traditional interest-based loans as some sort of deep-seated "radical, intolerant, violent, misogynistic, antisemitic" Islamic ideological triumph displays a stunning ignorance of history.
