Their <a href=\"http:\/\/www.britishpathe.com\/\">archive footage<\/a>, some 3,500 hours, is <a title=\"BBC NEWS | Entertainment | Newsreel archive launched online\" href=\"http:\/\/news.bbc.co.uk\/2\/hi\/entertainment\/2490639.stm\">online and freely available<\/a>, thanks to a grant from Britain&#8217;s national lottery.<\/p>\n<p class=\"block\">Specialists at Path\u00e9 spent over 50,000 hours to process the priceless 35mm film archive to digital video.<br \/>\nThe film had been stored in 30,000 square feet of specialised warehousing. Its digital descendant, however, takes up about five square feet on a Path\u00e9 storage computer.<\/p>\n<p>It&#8217;s designed for streaming video, even at modem speeds.
