{"id":5320,"date":"2004-04-07T11:13:01","date_gmt":"2004-04-07T18:13:01","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/hill-kleerup.org\/blog\/wp\/2004\/04\/07\/pop-up-probs.html"},"modified":"2004-04-07T11:13:01","modified_gmt":"2004-04-07T18:13:01","slug":"pop_up_probs","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/hill-kleerup.org\/blog\/2004\/04\/07\/pop_up_probs.html","title":{"rendered":"Pop-up probs"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>I have two levels of pop-up protection.<\/p>\n<p>First off, I have (from of old) <a href=\"http:\/\/www.popupcop.com\/r\">PopUpCop<\/a>, which does a really fine job of pop-up filtering, particularly of different types and different technologies; it has a good control interface, too.<\/p>\n<p>And I have the pop-up protections of <a href=\"http:\/\/www.flashpeak.com\/sbrowser\/\">SlimBrowser<\/a>, which cover what PopUpCop doesn&#8217;t.<\/p>\n<p>I have to be careful, though.  If I tell PopUpCop to turn off scripts, then I can use the little B\/I\/U editing buttons in my blog (and others), since they use onclick scripts.  And if I tell SB to block pop-ups based on appearance, then it treats those same onclick commands as something dangerous, and shuts down legitimate (whitelisted) pop-up windows (like, say, MT comment windows, for those who use that interface).<\/p>\n<p>Annoying.  Because, of course, when I let that stuff through, other crap gets through, too.<\/p>\n<p>A constant struggle, I tell you.
