I feel like I should say more about it, and I no doubt will, later. It’s a pity that support of either candidate has to carry with it such immediate assumptions about what someone believes in as well. As seems so often true, I suspect the balloting in November’s election will be accompanied by a lot of nose-holding, on both sides, as folks vote for the lesser of two evils (or against the evil of two lessers).<\/p>\n

There remains room for mind change here. I’m in no way, shape, or form, a True Believer in Bush, no matter how much I’ve sometimes seemed to be an apologist for him; I tend to be an apologist for anyone who’s being nailed too hard for reasons I think are unfounded, whether it’s Bush, or Clinton before him. <\/p>\n

It may well be that Kerry can impress me greatly between now and November. It may be that Bush will pull more bone-headed moves. It may be that the VP choices will have an influence. There’s a lot of time between now and then.<\/p>\n

And it may well be that either candidate, should they win, will surprise me by being a lot better (or a lot less bad) than I was afraid they would be; that was true with Bush ’00.<\/p>\n

But as things stand, like Totten, I’ll be voting a split ticket in the Fall — Bush for Pres, and Dems for Congress. Not that, in Colorado, it’s likely to make a different overall, but that’s where I’m at right now.<\/p>\n
