{"id":5582,"date":"2004-02-18T07:38:29","date_gmt":"2004-02-18T14:38:29","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/hill-kleerup.org\/blog\/wp\/2004\/02\/18\/drought-update.html"},"modified":"2014-12-04T17:05:59","modified_gmt":"2014-12-05T00:05:59","slug":"drought_update","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/hill-kleerup.org\/blog\/2004\/02\/18\/drought_update.html","title":{"rendered":"Drought update"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>So far, so good &#8230; <a title=\"Rocky Mountain News: Local\" href=\"http:\/\/www.rockymountainnews.com\/drmn\/local\/article\/0,1299,DRMN_15_2662765,00.html\">sort of<\/a> &#8230; with drought stuff here in Colorado.<\/p>\n<p class=\"block\">Denver Water expects its drought-stricken reservoirs to reach 92 percent of capacity this summer if spring weather provides normal amounts of snow and rain.<br \/>\n[&#8230;] Statewide snowpacks &#8211; critical indicators of new water supplies &#8211; are close to average.  The South Platte River Basin, on which Denver relies heavily, is registering about 70 percent of average.<br \/>\nStill, March and April are traditionally heavy snow months in regions that are critical to Denver&#8217;s water supply.<\/p>\n<p>We&#8217;re not out the woods yet by any means (the long-term water issues notwithstanding).  Denver Water&#8217;s asked folks not to water their lawns in March and April (a difficult trick for us, since our zones don&#8217;t match our lawns vs. gardens, at least not any more).  <\/p>\n<p>Still, with luck, we won&#8217;t see the yard start off with a huge deficit out the gate.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>So far, so good &#8230; sort of &#8230; with drought stuff here in Colorado.
