And now, today, Lord of the Rings: Return of the King<\/i> has picked up eleven Oscar nominations<\/a>, the most of any film this year. Next up was Master and Commander<\/i>, at ten. Cold Mountain<\/i>, highly touted to be a major contender, did not pick up nominations for best picture, director, or actress among its seven.<\/p>\n

RotK <\/i>was nominated <\/a>for Best Picture, Director, Original Score, Original Song, Visual Effects, Film Editing, Adapted Screenplay, Art Direction, Costume Design, Sound, and Makeup. Alas, no acting nominations.<\/p>\n
