I’m sure it makes perfect economic sense. But it still feels screwy to see water rates go up<\/a>. If it was because it was costing Denver Water more to get needed water in the face of the drought — well, nobody would question that. Instead, though, the problem is that:<\/p>\n

    \n
  1. There’s not enough water.\n
  2. Denver Water is requiring mandatory conservation.\n
  3. That reduces the amount of water DW sells.\n
  4. That reduces DW’s revenue “stream.”\n
  5. That means DW has to increase water fees to make up the shortfall.<\/ol>\n

    See? Makes perfect sense.<\/p>\n

    Until you realize it means your water bill is going to go way up <\/i>while your water consumption goes way down<\/i>.<\/p>\n
