\"\"Went to see The Incredibles<\/a> <\/em>again<\/a> today, and we went with Jim and Ginger. To those who know them, they will realize that this is akin to saying that we swung past Xanadu and got Chuckie Kane to head off to the drive-in with us. The last flick they went to see was Chicago, <\/em>but I suspect the one before that was The Sound of Music, <\/em>in its original release. <\/p>\n

It’s not that they’re recluses or anything. They are avid theater-goers and all that. They just don’t do <\/em>TV or movies. It’s not their bag, baby.<\/p>\n

But for Katherine, anything’s possible, and Katherine was eager (with a bit of prompting from Daddy) to see The Incredibles <\/em>again.<\/p>\n

And it was well worth it. The film really is very good, and holds up well to re-viewing. Some of the character animation still doesn’t quite gel — but it’s by far the exception than the rule. Some of the story is a bit problematic (the whole Fro-Zone character is great fun and wonderfully rendered, but doesn’t really fit into the climactic scene), but it holds together better than most movies out there. Overall, it’s well worth all the nominations for best picture of the year, which is often damning with faint praise, but truly applicable here.<\/p>\n

And Jim and Ginger enjoyed it (particularly the E. Mode, “Honey, where’s my super-suit?” and traffic directions scenes). And I enjoyed it immensely. And Katherine managed to sit down through the same two hour flick (despite a few scary bits) now twice, which is high praise indeed.<\/p>\n

The only problem was of my own making, as I ordered the tickets online, but for the wrong theater. After profound confusion (not just on my part) at both the front desk and at the front of the ticket line, the (assistant?) manager at the Century Stadium 25<\/a> (on Katella in Orange, by the Duck Pond) took matters in hand, sent in the rest for their seats, and got me my tickets without making me stand in line outside. So kudos to her; it cost the theater nothing (indeed, got them a sale), and made it a pleasant movie-going experience for us. Which, these days, is nothing to sneeze at.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
