{"id":7109,"date":"2004-10-28T06:27:58","date_gmt":"2004-10-28T13:27:58","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/hill-kleerup.org\/blog\/wp\/2004\/10\/28\/home-improvement-log.html"},"modified":"2004-10-28T06:27:58","modified_gmt":"2004-10-28T13:27:58","slug":"home_improvemen","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/hill-kleerup.org\/blog\/2004\/10\/28\/home_improvemen.html","title":{"rendered":"Home improvement log"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><strong>Done (while I was home yesterday):<\/strong><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Installed trim around the new back doors, interior and exterior.\n<li>Installed door hardware.\n<li>Relocated the top deadbolt for the semi-fixed door.\n<li>Installed the pop-out lattice-work\/lights on the door.\n<li>Spackle around the new doors.\n<li>Installed the baseboards around the new buffet.\n<li>Stain and prep the front trim for the buffet.\n<li>Buy new light fixtures for the dining room, entry hall, stairwell.\n<li>Hang new dining room light.\n<li>Get dining room and living room back in livable order.<\/ul>\n<p>Great stuff, and very little of it would have been possible without Jim&#8217;s help (and direction).<\/p>\n<p><strong>To be done (Real Soon Now):<\/strong><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Replace the new siding pieces framing the back door.  The stuff does not remove very easily (certainly not  as easily as wood), and we need some replacement trim pieces.  That said, Margie&#8217;s made the call, and the guys at Ultimate Exteriors were very quick and helpful.\n<li>Do some minor caulking around the new back door.\n<li>Touch-up paint around the new doors (on the inside).\n<li>Decide about drapery around the new doors.  Follow up on decision (if need be).\n<li>Install a trim piece on the upright &#8220;between&#8221; the two doors (actually part of the semi-fixed door).\n<li>Install the front trim for the buffet.\n<li>Grout the tile on the buffet.\n<li>Hang new entry hall light.\n<li>Hang new stairwell light.\n<li>Buy and install new hallway lights (3).<\/ul>\n<p>Home improvement &#8212; it&#8217;s not an adventure, it&#8217;s a career &#8230; \ud83d\ude42<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Done (while I was home yesterday): Installed trim around the new back doors, interior and exterior.
