{"id":7408,"date":"2005-03-14T06:21:54","date_gmt":"2005-03-14T13:21:54","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/hill-kleerup.org\/blog\/wp\/2005\/03\/14\/having-it-both-ways.html"},"modified":"2005-03-14T06:21:54","modified_gmt":"2005-03-14T13:21:54","slug":"having_it_both","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/hill-kleerup.org\/blog\/2005\/03\/14\/having_it_both.html","title":{"rendered":"Having it both ways"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>If, in fact, the new <a href=\"http:\/\/www.aim.com\/tos\/tos.adp\" target=\"_blank\">AOL Instant Messenger (AIM) Terms of Service (TOS)<\/a> include some privacy-busting clauses like &#8230;<\/p>\n<p class=\"block\">&#8230; by posting Content on an AIM Product, you grant AOL, its parent, affiliates, subsidiaries, assigns, agents and licensees the irrevocable, perpetual, worldwide right to reproduce, display, perform, distribute, adapt and promote this Content in any medium. You waive any right to privacy.<\/p>\n<p>&#8230; then does AOL have to take responsibility for what&#8217;s there?  They say they can use it, they say it&#8217;s not private, that means they have control over it.  <\/p>\n<p>Is that really the course that AOL wants to take?
