{"id":7452,"date":"2005-03-01T21:47:49","date_gmt":"2005-03-02T04:47:49","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/hill-kleerup.org\/blog\/wp\/2005\/03\/01\/kid-stuff-3.html"},"modified":"2014-11-10T15:49:14","modified_gmt":"2014-11-10T22:49:14","slug":"kid_stuff_3","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/hill-kleerup.org\/blog\/2005\/03\/01\/kid_stuff_3.html","title":{"rendered":"Kid Stuff"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>I am inclined to agree with the Supremes that <a href=\"http:\/\/www.cnn.com\/2005\/LAW\/03\/01\/scotus.death.penalty\/index.html\" target=\"_blank\">sentencing juveniles (those under age 18) to death is &#8220;cruel and unusual.&#8221;<\/a>  While I have no doubt that some 17-year-olds are capable of making morally informed decisions, I&#8217;m also sure there are 18-year-olds who aren&#8217;t, and setting an arbitrary date is better than leaving it to the whims of juries and judges.<\/p>\n<p>I don&#8217;t have a problem with capital punishment <em>per se<\/em>, I think there is sufficient doubt that it is used in this country in a broadly fair and equitable fashion that its use in any cases has to be open to question.
