So, this week I have something scheduled every single night.<\/p>\n
It’s not quite as bad as that, since it’s all related to each other. We’re flying in the two final rector candidates — separately, of course — to be here this week, to meet the search committee and the interim rector and the bishop and all that, and to basically get a discerning handle on which would be best for us.<\/p>\n
My impression of either of the two is that they’d do fine job. They’d do it differently, with different styles, and I have my tentative favorite, but I’m looking forward to this week to make the difference clearer.<\/p>\n
So we have dinner out each night M-Th … for each candidate, once at a committee member’s house, once down at the church (with an evening service to round it out). During the day, they’ll be shepherded (so to speak) about the Denver metro area by a succession of committee members to get some solo face time — touring the area to get a feel for housing and geography; going downtown to visit the cathedral and the bishop and the, well, downtown; breakfasts and lunches. I’ll be taking some time off during the week to do that, in addition to the evening meals.<\/p>\n
Everyone on the committee is very excited, mostly over the prospect of picking someone, but to some degree over the prospect of the picking being over with.<\/p>\n
