I think I’ve settled on JAlbum<\/a> as my gallery organizer of choice. It does a nice, fairly configurable job of building and posting albums to the web. All I need to do is create a central organizing page<\/a> and I’m set. <\/p>\n

Kind of. The one thing I’ve already discovered is that it’s far too easy to create an album that overwrites another album online. That’s just a matter of procedure, but lacking an integrated gallery site function, it’s still a danger. (There look to be ways to create and manage multi-level galleries relatively easily, but I haven’t found a straightforward way of doing it yet.)<\/p>\n

That said, it does a good job of integrating and updating photos and album notes, stores picture comments in the picture itself, and generally takes care of all the scut work. It’s easier to use and organize than Gallery was, and the photos are stored as JPGs, not as Flash items. Plus, it all sits on my machine, which means I have control over it (as long as I keep it backed up).<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
