So we had our first rehearsal last night for the (newly rescheduled) Cotton Patch Gospel<\/em> show at the church. Performances are presently scheduled for 30 September and 1-2 October (night, night, and matinee, respectively). We’d set this up this originally back in June<\/a>, but the schedule was too tight and too many other things were happening then.<\/p>\n

The bluegrass music (composed by Harry Chapin) is great, and the story is pretty good, too — a retelling of the Gospel story if it were set in the rural South (with Atlanta taking on the role of Jerusalem), with plenty of humor to leaven the tale. It’s just going to remain a lot <\/em>of memorization, not to mention getting my singing voice back in shape — after 2½ hours of practice last night, I was going hoarse.
