John Byrne
One of the best runs in FF history and a direct descendent from the Lee/Kirby “feel” on the series, Byrne’s work from 1983 (!!) is always rereadable. This collection includes Doctor Doom’s plot with Terrax (and both of their “final” fates), the Trial of Reed Richards for his saving of Galactus, the introduction of She-Hulk to the team (after the Secret Wars), and the fate of Reed and Sue’s second child. There are some clunkers here, too — often when Byrne tried to introduce his own villains to the series — but lots of great stuff as swell.

Girl Genius: Angela Heterodyne and the Monster Engine (Vol. 3) (Airship) [5/4/4/4] (collects #7-10)
w/a. That’s fine, because the wait is worth it. A faboo combo of steampunk, magic, mystery, madness, blood, and Foglio humor, GG is always worth reading and marveling at the visual and backstory richness. In this volume, Agatha’s been brought aboad the giant airship Castle Wulfenbach airship, where she gets introduced to any number of delightful characters, as she fends off insane heroes, sinister geniuses and their sons, and deals with lots and lots of robots. Every page provokes a gasp, a hoot, and a goggle. Worth reading, and rereading, then loaning to friends to make them laugh, then reading again when you get them back. Triffic.

Heaven’s War (Image) [2/2/2/2]
w.
