He&#8217;d been in <a href=\"https:\/\/www.hill-kleerup.org\/blog\/2004\/08\/30\/i_canna_change.html\" target=\"_blank\">failing health for some time<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>A WWII vet (and D-Day survivor), he was a talented voice artist (and did a number of voices on <em>Star Trek <\/em>besides the one he was famous for, usually the big, booming disembodied ones like the Guardian of Forever and Sargon, as well as dozens of others on the animated series), but he&#8217;ll always be the passionately geeky and stand-up Star Fleet engineer <a href=\"http:\/\/www.memory-alpha.org\/en\/index.php\/Montgomery_Scott\" target=\"_blank\">Mr. Scott<\/a> to me.<\/p>\n<p><small>(via <a href=\"http:\/\/www.boingboing.net\/2005\/07\/20\/james_doohan_rip.html\" target=\"_blank\">BoingBoing<\/a>)<\/small><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>RIP, James Doohan.
